CQU's Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning holds the 2nd International Conference of CCES

On October 5, 2022, the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University held the 2nd International Conference of Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability (CCES for short). This International Conference was held online, with 291 registered participants providing 86 abstracts, 21 oral representations and 3 keynote speeches. Attending scholars came from 60 countries and regions including China, Britain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Spain, Russia, Italy, Colombia, Jordan, India, Iran, Singapore, Turkey, Malaysia, etc. At the conference, they discussed and explored the impact of greenhouse gas emissions on the global temperature and global warming as well as the corresponding solutions and strategies.

 

 


The conference aim
ed to strengthen the exchange of relevant achievements on climate change and environmental sustainability and promote the development of research on climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable urban and rural planning and design, decarbonization of built environment and climate change management. The International Conference of CCES was initiated by He Baojie, a "Hongshen" Young Scholar from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and a winner of "Green Talents" Award of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany. Following 2021, the conference was hosted in the name of Chongqing University for the second consecutive year.

 


In addition, the conference was strongly supported by experts from many internationally renowned universities, including Ms. E.Didem Evci Kiraz, Dean of Department of Atmospheric Interdisciplinary Environmental Health, Ms. Rongrong Cheacharoen, Head of Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, and Mr. Joni Jupesta, Senior Researcher, Kyoto Institute of Earth Innovation Technology, Japan.

 

 


At the opening ceremony, He Baojie pointed out that climate change posed a great challenge to the living environment of humans and actively responding to climate change was an important measure to promote social progress and development. The 2nd International Conference of CCES gathered global experts and scholars to discuss issues such as environmental sustainability, climate mitigation and adaptation and environmental carbon reduction, which ha
d positive significance for promoting the solution of climate change.

 


At the conference, Prof. E.Didem Evci Kiraz gave a keynote speech titled Climate Determinants of Health, researcher Rong Cheaharoen presented the report of Energy Conversion-storage Devices Towards Carbon Neutrality and researcher Joni Jupesta shared the presentation of The Role of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in the Industry.

 

 


Scholars reported and discussed the challenges of climate change and corresponding countermeasures and the audience actively participated in the relevant discussions. At last, He Baojie thanked the scholars for their wonderful sharing and presentation and proposed to hold the third conference. All results and submissions of this conference will be published in Advanced Science, Technology and Innovation (ASTI), an IEREK interdisciplinary series published by Springer Nature and included in Scopus.

 

 

 


This conference was jointly hosted by Dr. Gloria Pignatta from University of New South Wales, Australia, researcher Yang Linchuan from Southwest Jiaotong University and researcher Yu Zhaowu from Fudan University and vigorously supported by Dr. Ou Yifu from Hong Kong University, Dr. Bao Zhikang from City University of Hong Kong, Dr. Liu Huimin from Wuhan University, Dr. Liang Yuan from Hong Kong Baptist University and Dr. Zhang Gaochuan from Zhejiang University of Science and Technology.
