On April 15, 2023, the 10th "Construction Season of Chongqing University", sponsored by Chongqing University and co-organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee of Shapingba District, Chongqing and Chongqing Yulong Industries Co., Ltd. was held at the backstreet of Ciqikou, Shapingba, Chongqing. From 2013 to 2023, the "Construction Season of Chongqing University" has been held for 10 years. Students of the Faculty exhibited their construction works that combine technology and arts in places such as Shancheng Lane and Hastin Avenue.

Chongqing Jiaotong University and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute were invited to this year's event, with openness and exchange as its concept. A total of 21 teams made up of first-year students from 7 classes of 2022 of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and the 4 teams from Chongqing Jiaotong University and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute competed with and learned from each other.

At 8:30 a.m., the opening ceremony was held at the Diaojiaolou Square of Ciqikou. Li Hai, Director of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee of Shapingba District, and Han Leixiao, the Deputy Director of the Committee; Li Yingmin, Assistant to the President of Chongqing University, Dong Lili, Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning of Chongqing Jiaotong University, Guo Hui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Architecture and Environmental Arts of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and representatives of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, related enterprises and design institutes showed up at the opening ceremony. Weng Ji, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, and Li Hai, Director of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee of Shapingba District, respectively delivered a speech. Li Yingmin announced the opening of the 10th "Construction Season of Chongqing University".

The guests presented the 25 representative teams with the construction permits, and then the participants started the construction work immediately.

Teamwork skills and the ability to respond to emergencies are equally important during onsite construction. Participants had to solve problems with structure and connection encountered during construction, in an effort to represent the scheme that they had been working on for nearly 1 month.

At 5:00 p.m., all the construction works were finished. The teams completed their vivid construction works at the backstreet of Ciqikou within just 8 hours. This fully demonstrated their remarkable construction and art level.

The "Construction Season of Chongqing University" is a teaching link of "material and construction" set up based on the "Fundamentals of Architectural Design" course for first-year undergraduates of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. It has been held for 10 years, and has been sticking to the education philosophy of general aesthetic education to provide students with perceptual and rational knowledge of the material performance, construction method and process. The "course ideology and politics" are integrated into the practical course through the selection of sites in historical blocks, the scheme conception that is guided by traditional culture and the influence of traditional architectural culture, in an effort to inspire the creativity of students, enhance their aesthetic expression, and convey the true meaning of art and beauty through collision of thoughts.

The Key Laboratory of New Technology for Construction of Cities in Mountain Area, the Faculty of Built Environment of Chongqing University, the Architecture Popularization Education Base of Chongqing University, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and China Southwest Geotechnical Investigation and Design Institute Co., Ltd. granted substantial support to the event. This event was reported by the Xinhua News Agency Branch, China News Service, Guangming Daily, Chongqing TV Station, Chongqing Daily, Chongqing Release, CQNews, Chongqing Morning News, Shapingba Newspaper and other national and local mainstream media.
