Recently, the 2023 WUPENiCity International Competition on Student Course Works jointly organized by WUPEN (World Urban Planning Education Network), IKCEST-iCity Website of UNESCO and GUIHUA announced the winning results. The teachers and students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University have achieved good results in both competition units.
The undergraduates pocketed 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 3 third prizes and 5 nomination prizes in the International Competition on Student Course Works for Urban Design, and 2 second prizes, 1 third prize and 5 nomination prizes in the Competition for Urban Sustainable Investigation Report. In addition, the postgraduates were awarded 1 second prize and 1 nomination prize in the International Competition on Student Course Works for Urban Design.
In the International Competition on Student Course Works for Urban Design, the project "SYM-S•T•E•P" designed by Zheng Hongtian and Yang Haohan under the supervision of Wei Haoyan and Ying Wen won the first prize. The project "Memories of Mountain City · Shared New Pattern" designed by Yang Wenjin and Gu Jinming under the supervision of Zeng Yin and the project "City · Flexible Joint Program" designed by Zhang Yuande and Shang Aiqi under the supervision of Tan Wenyong and He Baojie were awarded the second prizes. The project "Lush Vines Create Spiritual Home" designed by Jia Lufan and Liu Xuan under the supervision of Wei Haoyan, the project "Old Impression · New Urban Appearance" designed by Zhou Shenren and Deng Yingxin under the supervision of Wang Min and the project "CODE:SYMBIORECO---Urban Design of Jinshan West District in Cuntan, Chongqing under the Concept of Symbiotic Restoration" designed by Ma Ziteng and Wang Xukang under the supervision of Gu Yuanyuan got the third prizes. Besides, another six teams won the nomination awards.
In the Competition for Urban Sustainable Investigation Report, the investigation reports such as "Healthcare for the Elderly" --- A Survey on the Satisfaction of the Elderly in Community Hospitals Based on Grounded Theory and Structural Equation —— Taking Xiaolongkan Community Hospital in Shapingba District, Chongqing as an Example" completed by Wang Zhaoyi, Xu Yanheng and Li Muxiaolu under the supervision of Sun Zhongwei and "Voice of Propaganda for Harmonious Countryside--- An Investigation on the Function of Rural "Broadcast Speaker" in the Reconstruction of Rural Publicity" prepared by Geng Yuyun, Hu Huilin, Zhang Kangrui and Liang Xi under the supervision of Xu Miao were awarded the second prizes, while the investigation report "Suitable for Tourism and Industry , 'Box Spaces' Complement Each Other" completed by Zhang Yaodan, Qi Yanyan, Zhou Linye and Wang Jingling under the supervision of Liu Peng and Xu Miao pocketed the third prize. Furthermore, another 5 teams won the nomination prizes.
The WUPENiCity International Competition on Student Course Works lays emphasis on the development trend of urban space, cares about hot topics in professional fields, is committed to promoting urban design teaching and discipline construction in universities, promotes continuous innovation, and actively facilitates the coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Academician Wu Zhiqiang served as the chairman of this Competition. In addition, experts and scholars from the world's top urban planning and design universities were invited as the judges. The number of participants who have passed the qualification examination in either of the two competition units was taken as the total number of works in their respective unit, with the first prize for the works with scores ranking top 1%, the second prize for the works with scores ranking top 2-5% and the third prize for the works with scores ranking top 6-10%; The nomination prize was awarded to the works with scores ranking top 15%.
