
Benson Vedasto Karumuna
Born in Tanzania in 1983, he is currently working in the ministry of higher education of Tanzania as a research fellow and lecturer at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), College of Architecture and Construction Technology. He got his doctoral Degree in 2025 from School of Architecture and Urban Planning (FAUP), Chongqing University, China.
He Holds a BSc in Landscape Architecture from ARDHI University, Tanzania (2011), postgraduate training in Large-Scale Landscape Architecture from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala (2014), and a Master of Engineering in Architecture from Chongqing University (2018). He is a registered professional with the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) and a member of the Architects Association of Tanzania (AAT) and the International Federation of Landscape Architects–Africa (IFLA Africa).
His expertise focuses on ecological design, healthcare facility design, and resilient architecture, with active involvement in teaching, academic service, consultancy practice, and scholarly publications. He won Second Prize (group) in a Studio Design Project in 2016 and served as the East African Block Representative in the International Student Union (ISO) at Chongqing University.
He aims to integrate research-driven design with professional practice to address healthcare and environmental challenges in Africa.
