On November 17, 2023, the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) announced the selection results of the IFLA ASIA-PAC LA AWARDS 2023. The competition aims to recognize landscape architects for their significant contributions to the protection, advocacy, support and improvement of national, regional or urban human settlements. The competition sets awards of 7 categories for competed projects: Parks and Open space, Nature Conservation, Cultural and Urban Landscape, Residential, Skyrise Greenery, Green Infrastructure and Communities. Each category includes 3 awards: Outstanding Award, Awards of Excellence and Honourable Mention.
Yuan Jia, an associate professor of Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, and his team won 1 Outstanding Award of Parks and Open space, 1 Honourable Mention of Nature Conservation and 2 Honourable Mention of Green Infrastructure (no Outstanding Award of Green Infrastructure is available this year).

Relying on the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University and the Research Center for Ecological Restoration and Management of the Drawdown Area in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, the landscape and ecological restoration team of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University has devoted themselves to the scientific research of the drawdown area in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and the wetlands in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and carried out a series of innovative research and practical demonstrations in wetland ecosystem restoration research and application, ecological restoration of large lakes and reservoirs, and design of small and micro wetlands. Their relevant achievements have been well received and widely applied.
