The “Listen to the Future” Soundscape Design Exhibition opens at Pavilion 2, Building 1, Jinshan Ecool, Chongqing on the afternoon of June 11. Highlights of the Exhibition are the soundscape design words of the X-scape Lab of Chongqing University in 2013-2022. They are covered in 9 topics, including Intelligent Therapeutic Soundscape, Exhibition & Display Soundscape, Landscape Facilities, Rehabilitation Soundscape, Sound of the Cutie, Forest City, Soundscape Legacy, Ark and Soundscape Materialization.
Hu Xuebin, a standing member of CPC CQU Committee, Head of the Publicity Department and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment, Yu Ying, a member of the leading Party group of Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, Xu Qianli, Secretary of CPC Committee and Chairman of Chongqing Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd., Xie Ziqiang, President of Chongqing Survey and Designing Association, Liao Honghai, Part-time Vice Chairman of Chongqing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Managing Vice President of Chongqing Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Wu Guanglong, General Manager of Merchants Shekou Industrial Park Chongqing Co., Ltd., as well as main responsible persons and representatives of the United Front Work Department of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Chongqing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Ecology and Environment Bureau, and other architectural design institutes of Chongqing, showed up at the opening ceremony.

Xie Hui, curator of the Exhibition, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University, presided at the opening ceremony. Xie extended warm welcome to guests of the Exhibition, and expressed appreciation to the co-sponsors of the Exhibition, and Liu Chang and Luo Jun, executive curators of the Exhibition. After that, Hu Xuebin, Yu Ying, Xu Qianli and Liao Honghai delivered a speech respectively.

Hu Xuebin extended his sincere appreciation to honored guests present for their constant care and support for Chongqing University, and acknowledged the significant reference value of this Exhibition, with "Human Settlement and Health" as its theme, to improvement of the sound environment of human settlement considering the rapid change of urban and rural environment.

Yu Ying expressed his great interest in this Exhibition in her speech. Yu acknowledged the active role of soundscape design in optimizing the urban spaces and enhancing aesthetic appreciation ability of citizens. He called for efforts to build healthy, comforting and melodious soundscape through constant trying and exploration.

Xu Qianli pointed out that the Exhibition exactly conforms to the spirit of President Xi's important instruction to "return peace, harmony and beauty to nature" and that in the future, spaces will be a comprehensive combination of visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory and tactile senses.

Liao Honghai said that Professor Xie Hui has made great achievements in his research area, and has been making efforts to take in elements of Bayu culture, a perfect display of the splendor of young oversea Chinese in this new age. Liao called upon the oversea Chinese to make contribution to the soundscape development and forge a better future.

Special guests presented certificates to award winners of the "Joint Design Course on Exhibition & Display Soundscape for Postgraduate Students" co-launched by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, China Shanghai Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Pan-Asia Expo. Guests present watched the video about the "Listen to the Future" Soundscape Design Exhibition. After that, Xie Hui showed the guests around the Exhibition.

This Exhibition was hosted by Chongqing University and co-organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Meishi Film Academy, the Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics of The Acoustical Society of China, the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Acoustics, and the Acoustical Society of Chongqing, with support from China Shanghai Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., Pan-Asia Expo (Chongqing), Chongqing Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Chongqing Overseas Chinese Youth Association, CCT Technology Holdings Limited, and Jinshan Ecool Cultural Innovation Park. Media partners include the Journal of Human Settlements in West China and Journal of Architectural Education in Institutions of Higher Learning. The Exhibition will remain open till June 30.
