His main research interest is on the conceptual and methodological analysis of the urban and architectural design, with over 60 papers published. His projects in planning design, urban design,  architectural design and architecture design bidding have won numerous awards. Besides, he has been committed to architectural education for more than 30 years, teaching courses of urban planning, architecture and landscape. All work on the architectural teaching reform has brought him many awards. Under his supervision, some undergraduates and postgraduates have won first, second and third prizes in international and domestic design competitions and he has been repeatedly rated as an excellent instructor.
